jesus creed

I seriously think this man is on some sort of blogging steroids.  If you’ve never checked it out, do so because JESUS CREED is simply one of the best blogs on Christian Faith & Spirituality for three good reasons:  Content, Comments, and Community.  If you’re blogging or interested in blogging and want to know how to create a vibrant blog, remember those three words.

Good [and diverse] content invites comments which leads to good dialogue which have the ability to bring together a good community – even on a blog.  As proof, check out the following posts from Jesus Creed this past week:

  • Elders: Only Male – No fluff content here; engages intense issues with theological and biblical integrity.
  • What Did you Think of [Sarah Palin] - One simple question regarding the moosehuntin’ governor and VP nominee’s speech:  Ask the question, move aside, and let the blog community produce 158 comments and counting.
  • Voting for President – “Pastoral advice” regarding how the blog’s author and his wife are approaching the voting process – before and after.
  • Preaching: Notes or No Notes? - As practical as it can get for pastors, preachers, [and professors] regarding the usage of notes.

The person behind Jesus Creed is Scot McKnight - blogger, author, theologian, and professor at North Park University.  He’s authored a great book called Jesus Creed amongst several others and has a new one coming out soon entitled The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible.

QUESTION:

Which blog[s] would you recommend to me or others who read my blog and Why?  What’s on your must read blogroll?  Don’t be timid…if it’s yours, tell us why.

I think you and your readers may be interested in Larry James Urban Daily:
    http://larryjamesurbandaily.blogspot.com/
    It is:
“A repository of ideas, resources, commentary and opinions concerning the issues facing low-income residents of the inner cities of the United States and how mainstream America largely forgets or, worse, ignores the day-to-day realities of urban life for the so-called “poor.” Written and edited by the President & CEO of Central Dallas Ministries”

Larry James is a former pastor and now CEO of a community development corporation in Dallas.

The other blogs I read are:
Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/ (politics)
The Sandbox http://gocomics.typepad.com/the_sandbox/ (the best source I’ve found for reporting and perspective on our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan)
