I’ve realized that blog “traffic” is overrated. I don’t care how many people visit the blog but I do care who visits. One time visitors that search for “Korean beauty” just doesn’t excite me too much even if my blog’s title excites them. But folks interested in my journey, our personal and collective beauty and depravity, and this blog’s community does matter to me. Hope it matters to you as well which is why I’m inviting you to subscribe to the blog if you haven’t done so already.
This past month, there’s been some heavy increase in traffic due to my contributions to Sojourners’ God Politics blog, an article written for the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and blog mentions in the Seattle Times, indirectly in Huffington Post and the Stranger’s Slog. And of course, I’m hoping that folks from Quest Church - the main reason why I started this blog in the first place - are keeping up with me [especially while I'm away for the summer].
Anyway, if you’re new and want to subscribe to the blog, there are two very simple ways to do that.
USE A READER.Most if not all blogs use RSS (Real Simple Syndication) “feeds” which can be aggregated and displayed by what’s known as an RSS or Feed Reader. Some examples of free readers are Bloglines, Google Reader, Yahoo, or most of the newer web browsers (Internet Explorer and Safari) have readers built in. I personally use Google Readerwhich helps me sift through the blogs I subscribe to. Very simple. Very google. You can subscribe via different RSS options HERE. If you want to subscribe to comments and be informed when people make scathing remarks on certain posts, you can subscribe here: http://eugenecho.wordpress.com/comments/feed/
EMAIL. If you’d rather have the new posts delivered to your inbox as an email, that’s pretty simple too. Click here first and then on “Get Beauty and Depravity delivered by Email.” Type in your address and verification and you’re set to receive posts via email.

I blogged on Beyonce ONE TIME and ever since have got tons of hits based on her name plus various body parts. The things people search will never cease to amaze me. Congrats on the increase in traffic.

I use netvibes. I got sick of the blandness of a rss reader and opted instead for a visual system to keep track of my favorite feeds & sites. It’s totally changed my web surfing habits — aka I have a ton more time to be spending on things that, in the grand scheme of things are more important!

I like the easy RSS option. Congratulations on the level of awareness you’re blog has reached. It’s cool to see so many find your stuff. You’ve definitely tapped into another community that wants to hear what’s up with you as well as annother effective way to be visible to Quest-ers. You and McKnight may be to pastoral blogging what Obama is to political fundraising!

the increase in traffic isn’t that big of a deal because i’m realizing it’s really just one time visitors. but it is cool that folks are catching wind of “my voice” on blogosophere because i’d like to think i occasionally have something substantive to say.

Dear Eugene, for people who have monetized their websites, the total number of visitors, include which country they’re coming from are important aspects. However, I agree with you that sincere readership is more vital to the mission of blogging. It helps create, shape up & spread ideas & inspirations. And subscription is a good way to go about ensuring that.
Cheers!

I have been a “hit and miss” visitor. I enjoy your writing and honesty, as well as the Washington feel. Let me explain that… I was in the US Navy for 6 years and I could tell when someone was from Washington, especially Seattle area. You all have such a laid back feel to everything, including your writing. It has been thought provoking and, at the same time, relaxing. Thanks and I will continue to visit.
