making the speed-dating event a fund-raiser is pure genius. instead of the participants being stigmatized as desperate, shy, and socially inept, they are now socially-conscientious, gospel-driven folks who are sensitive to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the elderly. genius, the perfect cover story.

if i were to attend, i’d begin each five-minute date with a disclaimer:
